Activity in a nutshell
Offering the strengthening and core benefits of Pilates in the supportive (and cool!) environment of the swimming pool, this is a fantastic session if you’re injured, suffer from chronic pain, or you’re simply looking to strengthen your core and add a new fun dimension to your fitness routine.
What’s great about it?
There are a range of exercises and activities to keep everyone entertained and working hard, but within their limits. The water is supportive, particularly for those with injuries and pain, but can also be used as a form of resistance if you are looking for an extra challenge. Each participant does the class at their own pace and exercises can be modified to suit individual needs.
Who’s it best for?
Those who are interested in joining Pilates but are unable to get up off or down onto the floor; people with arthritis, back pain, sore knees, painful hips, shoulder pain and restricted movement; plus those recovering from surgery, or needing to work on their core strength.
Anything else to know?
The class is in the 25m pool at Heatley, which is shaded and offers some seating if you have family members with you (please note: there is no supervision for young children around the pool).
