Come and join Townsville Bushwalking Club on their latest walk and explore the Townsville region.
This Sunday is is to Ethel Creek, in the Paluma area.
This is an off-track walk and you will be hopping from rock to rock and clambering past minor obstacles. The walk involves altitude of about 400 or 500 metres in the course of the day. We walk past some magnificent boulders, interesting intricate cascades and some larger waterfalls. Our morning tea spot is a beautiful pool fed by a waterfall. The feeding waterfall is behind two massive rocks. You will only get to see it if you have a swim. There will be photo opportunities galore.
If the weather and conditions are not suitable, an alternative location will be used in the Paluma dam area.
Contact the club email [email protected] to discuss with walk leader your suitability to attend the walk.
The Club organises bushwalks every two weeks except for the hottest part of the year. Many of the walks are within an hour’s drive of Townsville. One-day walks are held on Sundays and there are some multi-day walks throughout the year.
Visitors and members who wish to participate in the next walk are required to attend the pre-walk meeting for a briefing on the walk, and approval by the walk leader to participate. The destination is decided at the meeting, with weather and other conditions taken into consideration. The next pre-walk meeting is Monday, September 28.
Pre-walk meetings are held at the Blessed Mary Mackillop Parish meeting room (building behind the Church), 43 Ross River Road Mundingburra at 6pm. Refer to the calendar for future meeting and walking dates.
Visitors are most welcome to attend the pre-walk meeting where a committee member will be available to provide information about the Club and answer any queries.
