We are excited to invite you to the Grand Opening of the new MTB Trails at the Big4 Airlie Cove Resort & Caravan Park in Airlie Beach!
The Big4 Airlie Cove Resort & Caravan Park and Whitsunday Mountain Bike Club have been working in partnership for two years to bring more MTB trails to the Whitsundays. This initiative has been entirely funded by Airlie Cove with some volunteer support from the WMTBC.
We will be celebrating and formally cutting the ribbon on March 5th from 3pm with a BBQ and guided rides around the trails. Why not come down for the weekend and stay at Airlie Cove – join us for the festivities and find out about mountain biking in the Whitsundays!!
The trails are rated ‘blue‘ according to the International Mountain Biking Association standards. It is expected kids around the age of 10 and up will enjoy these trails when ridden with a parent/guardian.
3.30pm: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Guided rides with club members will begin – small groups of mixed abilities will head out on the trails to give them a go
4.00pm: BBQ & Soft Drinks available
Trails will be available to be ridden until 6pm and open again the following day from 6am.
Sunday 6th March – For experienced riders looking for a challenge the club will also be organising a social ride through the Conway Circuit starting at 6am. This trail is a 22km of black-grade single track followed by 20km of riding on the main road to get back into Airlie Beach. All up the ride is expected to take 4-5 hours and only experienced fit riders are able to partake in this. All riders on this ride must be MTBA accredited.
Mountain biking is a high risk activity and must be undertaken with care and regard for the riding conditions at all times.
All riders use these trails at their own risk.
No liability is accepted by Big4 Airlie Cove Resort & Van Park or the Whitsunday Mountain Bike Club Inc. for loss, damage or injury while riding these trails.
